The five foods you shouldn’t eat before sex

For the sake of getting the most out of your sexy time, here are 5 foods you should right before sex

TONIC WATER

Tonic water contains a flavouring agent called quinine. According to the Daily Mail, this has been reliably linked to a decrease in sexual function in both men and women as it temporarily lowers testosterone levels and sperm count. So, if you’re thirsty before nookie, rather reach for a glass of water and save the tonic water for another time.

PEPPERMINT
Peppermint is many people’s go-to breath freshener before sexy time, but this is probably one of the worst decisions you can make before you get it on. Peppermint contains a menthol that has been proven to reduce testosterone levels, negatively affecting your libido.

FRIES
Greasy food is, in general, terrible for your libido. The trans fats found in fried chips have been proven to decrease both the male and female libido. According to Medical Daily, eating foods high in trans fats increases levels of abnormal sperm production. The high salt content in fries can also be problematic for men with high blood pressure as this condition affects the strength and longevity of erections.

RED WINE
While wine is a great way to lighten the mood and lower inhibitions, it’s not a good idea to over indulge just before sex. This is because alcohol tends to lower your sensitivity to touch and weakens orgasms. In addition, many studies have proved that sober men maintain their erections better than drunk men.

BEANS
Because of their high fibre content and antioxidant properties, beans are notorious for bringing out the gas in you. The indigestible sugars in beans are good for health because they function as probiotics that feed our good bacteria, but as soon as these sugars reach the stomach they can make one feel bloated, and bloated is not what you want to feel during sex.
